PM2.5太傷！ 增先天心臟病及老人肌少症風險 （中央社）
空污對健康影響甚鉅，國衛院研究發現，台灣PM2.5濃度對學童、孕婦胎兒、老人健康有影響，如提高胎兒先天性心臟病風險，也與年長者上肢肌少症有關。 國家衛生研究院「懸浮微粒特徵對民眾健康影響之研究」發現，台灣PM2.5全國平均值逐年降低，但現存濃度對於學童、孕婦胎兒及第二型糖尿病患者等敏感族群仍有影響。
研究發現，孩童長期暴露於懸浮微粒（PM10）會降低孩童的肺活量；老年人（65歲以上）長期暴露懸浮微粒下，除肺功能受損，也觀察到與肌少症有關，特別是上肢的肌肉量，但原因還有待驗證。 此外，研究團隊配合全國出生登記檔資料庫分析發現，孕婦在懷孕3至8週間暴露於較高濃度的PM2.5，與胎兒先天性心臟病的發生機率增加呈現顯著的相關性。
國衛院國家環境醫學研究所合聘研究員郭育良下午受訪時表示，有關胎兒先天性心臟病研究，研究團隊收案782名確診有先天性心臟病者，對比另外4692名健康胎兒，比較雙方的母親居住地懸浮微粒濃度。結果發現，健康胎兒的孕婦所處地一般而言懸浮微粒濃度較低。
郭育良表示，因孕期3到8週是胎兒生成心臟關鍵時刻，當孕婦暴露較高濃度的懸浮微粒，效應較明顯的疾病包含胎兒心房中隔缺損、肺動脈瓣阻塞以及心內膜墊缺損。 細懸浮微粒因顆粒細小，可在空氣留存很長時間或飄浮很遠距離，也可以進入到肺部深處，甚至進入循環到全身。暴露後除會增加死亡風險、氣喘惡化、肺功能下降、促發心血管疾病及腦中風等，長期暴露也會增加肺癌、甚至失智或與糖尿病等代謝疾病有關。
郭育良表示，戶外懸浮微粒主要來源包含交通工具排氣和工廠排放、野地焚燒等；室內則以烹調和燒香為大宗。建議民眾應一起為減少排放努力，烹調時也應做好自我保護，如開抽油煙機並減少燒香等。
國衛院建議，台灣現行空氣污染物標準PM2.5日平均35微克/立方公尺，年平均15微克/立方公尺，仍可在本土偵測到人體的健康效應，政府可參照世界衛生組織的建議標準值，將PM2.5標準逐漸降至日平均25微克/立方公尺，年平均10微克/立方公尺，保護民眾健康。
